Kings and Monsters: The Dark Age (Book 1)

In a faraway kingdom, when an ancient evil is awakened at midnight, unleashing hordes of monsters to establish their reign of terror across the lands.
The Kingdom of Melduck's ruler, King Willcock, must rally his armies, and confront the problem by attempting to seal up the gateway from which the monsters have come. Willcock hires the service of a sorcerer named Fendrel, a descendant of the great wizard, Merlin.
However, by deliberate intention or blunder, Fendrel opens up the gateway, setting the monsters loose to reign both night and day.
With the problem at hand, King Willcock attempts to battle the monsters, but his army is crushed right before his eyes, leaving him with no option than to beat a hasty retreat to Castle Melduck. The castles moats are its saving grace and its last line of defense, as Melduck sends its brave knights across the region to seek help.
